Mindless? Sure. Fun? Endlessly

Mindless? Sure. Fun? Endlessly
Yomiuri - Jun. 4, 2010

Ikuko Kitagawa / Daily Yomiuri Staff Writer
Sex and the City 2
3 out of five stars

Dir: Michael Patrick King
Cast: Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon

Make sure you dress fabulously gorgeous (or gorgeously fabulous) when you head to the theater to welcome back New York's four best known gals--Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda. But if you base your outfit on 2008's hit Sex and the City, you may find yourself dressed inappropriately for this sequel.

These four women spent more than a decade searching for their significant others, all the while enjoying sex, love and fashion, before settling into stable lives in which they go by names such as "Misses" and "Mom." (Except, of course, for Samantha, who has opted out of that life all together.)…
FRESH PERSPECTIVE / My husband has cancer and I feel so isolated
Yomiuri - Jun 4, 2010

Dear Fresh Perspective:

Last year, my husband was diagnosed with incurable cancer of the bladder. Following treatment, his condition is improved but not cured, and he is back at home. The doctor told him that the disease is "stable." Everyone pats him on the back and says how well he is managing. But, how about me? He is feeling better, and I keep feeling worse. I don't like to bother our sons studying far from home, and I take care of my husband at home all by myself. Thinking about our future, I become sad, and I'm also worried about financial problems that arise as a result of the illness. My husband doesn't like to talk about his illness and the future. He tells me to enjoy life now with him. It's so difficult for me to share my feelings with him. I feel isolated. What should I do?

Wacky candy says 'Japan' like no other gift
Asahi - Jun 4, 2010

WHEN we travel or when visitors come to us, we all want to give our friends and acquaintances a taste of Japan. The only problem is it often turns out to be slippery, odorous or wet. Yuck.

Thank goodness there's now Gotochi Drops. Weighing in at about 80 grams, they pack Japan's best loved--if not exactly best-known--flavors into colorful tins you can easily stuff into your carry-on.

FRESH PERSPECTIVE / Sexual problem a relationship problem
Yomiuri - Jun 4, 2010

Dear Fresh Perspective:

My husband and I have been struggling with physical intimacy in our relationship for the past six months. On many occasions we have wanted to make love, but my husband was unable to maintain his erection long enough for the experience to be satisfying for both of us. We have not experienced this kind of problem before, and are wondering whether his difficulty is related to emotional factors, as there has been some stress in our marriage this past year, or whether he may actually have a medical problem. Could you clarify the difference, how we would go about understanding the cause, and getting help?

More to Raphael's 'Madonna' than meets the eye
Yomiuri - Jun 4, 2010

FLORENCE--The finding that Raphael's Madonna of the Grand Duke was overpainted by someone else may create a stir in Italian art circles over whether to restore the painting.

Madonna of the Grand Duke (ca 1505) is one of the masterpieces of Renaissance Italy, an era that claims the likes of Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo.
