Imperial edicts were sent out from Heijo Palace to locations throughout Japan, uniting them into a single country.
Archaeological excavations and studies continue today at the Heijo Palace Site as researchers work to put together a comprehensive picture of Heijo Palace, the remnants of which lie buried underground.
